Yamaha. They make pianos. They make guitars. They make a lot of other stuff too, including a lot of motorcycles.
As a corporation, Yamaha has been around for about 135 years, going from a small regionally-focused enterprise into a globe-spanning corporation that brings in billions of dollars every year through the many facets of its business. No matter what corner of the world you go to, Yamaha is doing business there.
Over the decades, Yamaha’s R&D team has come up with many innovations in the motorcycle world. Some of these ideas made it possible for Yamaha to out-punch its weight class and compete with smaller bikes against machines with much larger engines. And this technological achievement didn’t just come in the horsepower wars; Yamaha also embraced other useful tech and found ways to incorporate advances that other manufacturers hadn’t included on their motorcycles. We could give you quite a few examples, but then that would be making the quiz a lot easier, wouldn’t it?
Because that’s what this quiz is about: Yamaha’s history, and machines from that history. We’ve had plenty of quizzes on motorcycle manufacturer history here, and I think this might be the easiest of all those puzzles. Your average ADVrider inmate should have at least seven correct answers, if you take your time. A few questions might be a bit more tricky, but a true moto nerd will get ’em.
Once you have completed the quiz, let everyone know how well you did in the comments below. Enjoy and good luck!
