It looks like the KTM 390 Adventure is going to basically unchanged for another year. Or at least, that’s what the reports out of India are saying—that country’s moto-press says the only change for 2024 are new paint choices.

When KTM brought the 390 Adventure to market, it had basically the same engine as the 390 Duke and other machines in this series, so it would have been. The same electro-options were also available, including traction control and an up-down quickshifter (optional on the Adventure model). So, when KTM updated the 390 Duke engine in 2023, it was reasonable to expect a similar overhaul for the 390 Adventure in 2024.

The US website does not list any such changes, and again, the motorcycle pundits in India say it’s not happening. They should know, because that’s where these bikes are built. European writers say that market is getting a new white-and-gray paint scheme to go with the traditional orange-and-black paint, and India says they’re getting the same as well. However, the US site shows no new paint options at this point, which doesn’t mean that won’t happen down the road.

No doubt some potential KTM 390 Adventure buyers will be a tad disappointed, as the changes to the 390 Duke engine would have been welcome in the Adventure. While the Duke didn’t gain more power for 2024, KTM said the changes meant that the peak power now kicked in lower down the rpm range. Max power for the updated 390 engines is 44.2 hp and 28.8 lb-ft of torque, pretty much unchanged from the 2023 and 2022 models, so the 390 Duke won’t make a whole lot more jam than the Adventure model. But travelers who are tired of revving their bike’s guts out in order to pull off a high-speed highway pass might have appreciated the change in tuning.

The 390 Duke also got an updated frame for 2024, and the Adventure doesn’t get that either. But next year’s US-market model still has the spoked wheels that the ’23 model got as an upgrade, and maybe we’ll see an overhaul of the machine’s hard parts for 2025?
